Celebrate the season with color and light in this hands-on stained glass workshop. Learn the copper foil technique as you cut, shape, and solder glass pieces to create your own one-of-a-kind sun catcher. Participants will choose between a butterfly or mushroom design and leave with a finished piece ready to brighten any window.

Create bold blue prints using the power of the sun!

In this hands-on workshop, you’ll explore the magic of cyanotype printing — one of the earliest forms of photography. Arrange natural objects, found materials, or your own small keepsakes on light-sensitive paper to design a one-of-a-kind composition. After a quick exposure to sunlight and a simple rinse, your vibrant blue-and-white image will be revealed.

You’ll leave with finished cyanotype prints and the knowledge to keep experimenting on your own.

Step into a tiny world of BIG imagination!

In Making Miniatures, young artists will design and build their very own miniature worlds from the ground up. We’ll begin with a box that becomes a house, room, landscape, or magical place — then fill it with handmade miniature creations.

Using cardboard, clay, Sculpey, and mixed media materials, students will construct tiny furniture, accessories, characters, and details that bring their small-scale spaces to life. Along the way, they’ll learn basic sculpting and construction techniques while strengthening creativity, storytelling, and problem-solving skills.

Perfect for imaginative builders and detail-lovers alike, this class encourages playful experimentation and big ideas — all in miniature form.

No experience needed — just a love for making and imagining.

MURALLING OUR WORLD

What does it really take to create a mural you see around town—or around the world?

In Muraling Our World, artist Sugey Mondragon guides students through the full mural process from concept to completion. Working collaboratively, participants will design and paint a large-scale class mural on plywood, learning what happens behind the scenes of public art-making.

 

Students will:

  • Develop a shared concept from initial brainstorming to final design

  • Learn ideation techniques such as photobashing and visual research

  • Practice collaboration, listening, and creative compromise

  • Explore materials, scaling, and transfer methods used by muralists

  • Work hands-on to bring a large-scale artwork to life

This class is perfect for young artists interested in public art, illustration, painting, or community-centered creative work. No prior mural experience needed—just curiosity and a willingness to collaborate.

By the end of the six weeks, students will have contributed to a completed large-scale mural and gained insight into what it takes to be a collaborative artist in the community.
