Arts, Crafts, & Oddities Fair
AREA 22 will serve as the premiere fine arts, crafts, and oddities fair in the Fox Valley. The festival will take place on Riverside Drive in downtown Elgin, showcasing the creations and collections of visual artists in our area. AREA 22 will feature artist exhibition and sale, live art/sculpture making, entertainment, food vendors, beverages... and fun for the whole family. Free Admission and Parking. Rain or Shine.
Side Street Studio Arts invites you to participate in the first of this one of a kind event in Downtown Elgin. For those who can remember, think of AREA 22 as Art and Soul on The Fox meets Next Wave, a mix of the traditional fine-art fair concept, with a generous dusting of the eclectic and avant garde. So grab your kids, your parents, your neighbors, your pets… yes, dogs and snakes are allowed… and join us at the most exciting art fair you will ever experience!
(You may experience more exciting art fairs but we highly doubt it! :)
ABOUT THE APPLICATION
IMPORTANT DATES
Saturday, August 3rd, 2024 - Fair to take place along Riverside Drive.
12pm - 8pm, with an after party at Vern's Tavern.

June 1 - Deadline for application.

June 8 - Notification of jury results sent to artists.

We will only be accepting 50 artist/booths. A waitlist will be created.

June 15 - Deadline for artist acceptance.*Booth fee invoiced upon acceptance; booth space will not be reserved without payment.

June 18 - Deadline for payments made.

June 21 - Load-In/Set-Up/Day-Of information sent to participants.
VENDOR FEE

$75 for the one-day event for a 10’ x 10’ space.

$100 for the one-day event for a 20' x 10' space.

$50 - Young Artist Booth, 17 and below (5 spots available)

There is a $10 fee per submission. If chosen, your fee will be applied to your booth fee. *Submission fees are non-refundable.
This is a juried event. No commission will be charged for work sold. VENDOR FEE charged upon acceptance. Your booth space will not be reserved without Vendor Fee payment. There will be no refunds for artist cancellations. However, refunds would be made in the event of AREA 22 being canceled by its producers.

- AREA 22 PRODUCT BANS -
We DO NOT allow the sale of real bats or human remains at our shows due to the lack of confident confirmation that these items are ethically, respectfully and responsibly sourced. All artist vendors are mandated that any sale items are ethically, respectfully and responsibly sourced.
SIGHTINGS
LIVE MUSIC
We will be providing amplified music and/or organized busking during the event. On top of all the amazing art and live events during AREA 22, Side Street Studio Arts will be hosting their 11th Battle Of The Bands outdoors on the Riverside Drive promenade! The event is FREE and open to the public. Band performances begin at 6pm.
LIVE ART MAKING
We will have live sculpture creations and other live art options including free kids craft making, and a community mural project… fun for the whole family!

FOOD & BEVERAGE
We will be having multiple food vendors for the event, located at either end of Riverside Drive. AND, we are partnering with Vern’s Tavern to provide adult beverages for the event. We will be showcasing our brand new collaboration with Penrose Brewing Company, selling our very own Side Street artist-designed beer! All proceeds from these beer sales go to the 62 Bound Fundraiser for the new Side Street facility, located at 62 S. Grove Ave. in downtown!!!
