Free Art Kits
Side Street Studio Arts is partnering with the Elgin Cultural Arts Commission to get art kits to our area's young artists for in-home use during this difficult time.
Simply fill out the form, and a kit will be delivered to your door in days. Please only one request per family per month. Delivery address must be within 10 miles of Side Street Studio Arts, located in downtown Elgin.
Please note, while some supplies are new and some are gently used or donated, all have been disinfected. We will also be including a disinfecting wipe for you to wipe down supplies again upon arrival. But, guess what?!?! You get to keep the kit - it's all yours now!
If you have any questions or wish to donate used supplies, please email us HERE.
We will keep this up as long as our supplies last!

education through exploration
Community Moves is Side Street Studio Arts' education and outreach arm. Through visual and performing arts programming and education, Community Moves helps young artists develop creative problem-solving skills, find their voice through artistic expression, and build a foundation for well-rounded and responsible citizens. Focusing on dance, music, media, and the visual arts, Community Moves provides on site in school and after school programming in partnership with Elgin area public schools, free of charge to the school's families. Since 2012, Community Moves has worked with up to 500 young artists per school year and expects this number to increase for the 2017-2018 school year.

As part of our Community Moves arts education and outreach program, Side Street Studio Arts hosts seasonal make-and-take arts events for children and their grown ups that are free and open to the public. In this open house environment, families are welcome to spend time at Side Street, visiting various art-making stations, making work of their own to take home, and just simply explore the gallery.

Dear Parents and Guardians:
Starting in October, O’Neal Elementary School and Side Street Studio Arts-Community Moves will once again be offering after-school classes, as listed below. These free offerings have been developed to empower young artists through creation, performance, and education, and we are excited to be back at O’Neal for a third year!
Weekly Drop-In Visual and Performing Arts (Grades 1-3 & 4-6) – Students will explore a variety of visual and performing art disciplines. Led by professional artist educators, young artists will spend time each week exploring new visual art techniques, including painting, drawing, and sculpture, while working to hone each individual student’s preferred method of artistic communication, AND time focusing on contemporary performance methods of expression, from dance to music to theater.
Class will run EVERY Wednesday (except when school is out) from Wednesday, October 3, 2018 through Wednesday, April 24, 2019. Weekly classes will be held Wednesdays from 2:30-4:30pm. Students are not required to attend all sessions, but must be registered in order to “drop in” on the weeks they wish to attend.
Thank you to the EFS Foundation for their grant support of our Community Moves and Small Wonders Programs!
