My name is Harrison Linden, and this is my piece titled You Lost Again, and again, and again. It's a digital collage that's been made with various images from public domain and royalty free websites, and it's a composition that features a deaf life figure watching over a man that's presumably on the verge of death. This composition utilizes a very warm color scheme lots of reds, oranges, and yellows to highlight how chaotic and intense the scene unfolding is. Along with that, the repetition of the term again, as well as the juxtaposition of the two figures and the inclusion of these digital painterly marks, all goes to really reflect the agony of perpetual rejection, whether that be on a personal or professional level. It was largely inspired by the feelings I had at the time when I was looking for employment, as well as trying to find, you know, new connections in my life. The piece is ultimately largely about that frustration, but along with that, it also explores the absurdity of constantly trying at something but failing. Hence the repetition of the word again and sort of the hopelessness of death awaiting this man's surrender. My goal with this piece was to explore how rejection has felt for me, but also to have people ponder on just how absurd it is to constantly try out something and whether or not they'd be willing to give up, and what that would look like for them.
