SSSA’s Visual Art Coordinator Chris Arrecis is an Illinois-based artist working primarily in photography and drawing. His studio practice reflects his interest in searching for the accidental and serendipitous and incorporating camera-less and lens-less processes. Solo exhibitions include Greymatter Gallery, Milwaukee, WI; Joliet Junior College, Contemporary Art Center, Peoria, IL; Olin Gallery, Washington-Jefferson College, Washington, PA; and Peoria Art Guild, Peoria, IL.
He is a former artist-in-residence at SSSA (2018) and Prairie Center of the Arts, Peoria (2012).
His teaching experience includes occasional workshops at SSSA, Illinois Central College, Kishwaukee College, Northern Illinois University and Waubonsee Community College. He is also co-curator and co-founder of The Exhibition Project.
He earned his MFA in art from Northern Illinois University in 2008.
