The Elgin Fringe Festival is a visual and performing arts festival, featuring magic, dance, comedy, drama, music, and the undefined all in downtown Elgin!
Now headed into our sixth year, the Elgin Fringe Festival is a proud member of the United States Association of Fringe Festivals and the Canadian Association of Fringe Festivals. We are first come, first served; uncurated; uncensored; 100% back to the artists!
Tickets go on sale online August 1 - be sure to pick up your $3 Fringe Button by Elgin Artist Adrian Mesino The button gets you into the festival, and tickets to performances range from $0 to $10. Fringe Buttons are needed to purchase tickets to performances, get you into fringe parties and events, offset the production costs for the fringe festival, provide discounts at area businesses throughout the year, are a great fringe tradition, and look super cool!
The 2019 Elgin Fringe Festival is brought to you by the Elgin Cultural Arts Commission and Side Street Studio Arts and sponsored by the Martini Room, Blue Box Cafe, Elgin Public House, Elgin Art Showcase, The Loft of Elements Preserved, and Hemmens Cultural Center.
Fringe Festivals focus on performing arts but also include film, visual arts, and music. Performances take place in downtown areas in cafes, theaters, storefronts, and a variety of other locations. The first Fringe Festival started in 1947 in Edinburgh, Scotland, as an alternative festival that played concurrently with the Edinburgh International Festival. There are more than 20 fringe festivals throughout the United States with more in Canada and Europe.
The mission of the Elgin Fringe Festival is to encourage bold artistic experimentation and innovation by providing an accessible, affordable experience for both artists and audiences alike.
