Courting the Unknown, works by Laurie Peters Opening Reception

“Courting the Unknown” is an exhibit of works by Laurie Peters, marking her lifelong fascination and dialogue with Nature. The Plant Kingdom, cyclical aspects of Nature, and the ephemerality of living things are recurring themes in her work. The exhibit includes work in multiple media including drawing, painting, found object, encaustic and mosaic.

The exhibit opens Fri. August 1st from 6-9 pm, and runs through August 30th during gallery hours: Fri 3-7 pm, Sat 12-6 pm, and Sunday 11-3 pm at Side Street Studio Arts, 15 Ziegler Court, Elgin 60120.

This exhibit is generously supported through a 2025 Creative Catalyst Grant from the Illinois Arts Council.

Laurie Peters is a mixed media artist who lives in Elgin. She studied at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (MAAT Art Therapy) and the Cleveland Institute of Art (BFA Drawing), self-publishes Drawing Near Arts, a print portfolio magazine focused on creative inspiration, and transforms environments through garden design and mosaics.
