Neither Here Nor There

In observance of Hispanic Heritage Month, Side Street Studio Arts seeks entries for Neither Here Nor There.

The first-generation experience has always been complex. Some feel a sense of pride and acceptance having been adopted into a new homeland, while others feel disconnected, without a home and feeling they belong to both here and there, or neither. The first-generation experience can be full of contradictions.

This is a call for art from any artist to join in this conversation and is open to interpretation: Is it a contradiction? Do you feel connected to here? Or there? Both? Neither? Is it something else? What defines this experience for you? What is your experience or understanding of the first-generation experience?

The exhibit is open to the public September 6 - September 15, 2024, with an opening reception Friday, September 6, 2024, from 6-9 pm.
