Spooky Catrina

My name is Karina Chavez, and my piece is titled "Spooky Catrina," a 24-by-24-inch artwork inspired by my Mexican culture and my love for Día de los Muertos and Halloween. The Catrina represents strength, femininity, transformation, and the beauty that can exist even in darker moments. Through bold black and orange tones, skeletal details, flowers, and Halloween elements, I wanted to create a piece that feels both spooky and beautiful. For me, the Catrina is more than an image of death; she is a reminder to embrace life, honor where we come from, and continue blooming through every season.
