Mr. MacCheese

My name is Chris Palm, and my contribution to Something Wicked is a piece titled "Mr. MacCheese." This is an 8-by-10 drawing done in my favorite mediums: pen and ink with Prismacolor pencils. The piece is a portrait of a dapper figure with a head of macaroni and cheese. The colors are mainly earthy tones, browns and terracotta, aside from the head, which is yellows and oranges: mac and cheese colors. I started this with the intention of creating a whimsical figure with a head of pasta and cheese sauce, but the end result turned out darker than I expected, which is why I submitted it to this show. I wish I could tell you there was some deep, obscure existential meaning behind this drawing, but I really just wanted to draw a guy with a head of macaroni and cheese, and I enjoyed drawing all those noodles. This is just me having fun, which is the main reason I make art in the first place.
