Moon Rooted Portals

My name is Michelle Ecke, and my piece is titled "Moon Rooted Portals." I created this 16-by-16-inch painting using mixed media, including fabric, acrylic, and marker. Using different forms of media allows me to create a variety of textures, from collage elements to layers of poured paint. I'm inspired by vintage storybook imagery, childhood memories, and movie imagery, as well as visionary and outsider art. My hope is that my pieces invite viewers into a magical place where they can create their own story. This work conjures thoughts of the haunted outer limits and spaces where magic really does exist.
