About the event
SSSA invites you to experience the final creation of the Summer Youth Employment in the Arts program, Friday, August 10th from 6-9pm. This three month residency seeks to foster the creation of a personal craft while partaking in each facet of Side Street life, including exhibition, performance, and education. SYEA: Charlie Chairez, Calye Johnson, Peyton Hollian, Yuri Martinez, and Calvin Pennington. SYEA Coordinators: Claire Noland and Ruby Montgomery.
"Unveiling Human Nature" plunges into what really makes us human. It explores how our artists express themselves both externally and internally, diving into their thoughts, emotions, and experiences, and invites the viewer to see what leads to their actions and decisions. Unique to this moment in time, these works freeze the temporal personhood of each featured artist. This exposition examines individual identities and mental health to layout a journey of self-reflection and discovery for both the artists and viewers. “Unveiling Human Nature” is the end result of the SYEA goal: to create art for the sake of creating art.
