Join us for an unforgettable evening of rhythm, reflection, and community with Dr. Rahul Sharma and the Rhythm Ambassadors of Funkadesi — a multicultural, award-winning musical ensemble rooted in unity, healing, and joy.
This participatory workshop combines live drumming, heart-centered dialogue, and interactive reflection as we:
Learn global rhythms and create a collective drum circle
Explore inclusion, belonging, and community through storytelling and rhythm
Engage in guided dialogue led by Dr. Rahul Sharma, Clinical Psychologist and founder of Strategic Inclusion Consulting
Dr. Sharma is a longtime educator, psychologist, and musician who brings decades of experience in DEI strategy, wellness, and experiential learning. He’ll be joined by:
Kwame Steve Cobb: Percussionist and trauma-informed youth facilitator who has played with Lou Rawls, Anita Baker, and more.
Rich Conti: Musician and artisan with a background in music therapy and four decades of service in disability care.
Drums will be provided by Funkadesi – no experience necessary! Just bring your openness and curiosity.
This program is presented by Side Street Studio Arts, in partnership with the Gail Borden Public Library, the Elgin Cultural Arts Commission, and is supported by Healing Illinois.
Let’s drum, share, and heal—together.
