I Am The Sun - Visual Art Exhibition Opening Reception

Guest curator Christian Campos brings his vision to Side Street Studio Arts for I Am The Sun, a month-long exhibition.

I AM THE SUN (Curatorial Statement)

Yucatán folklore tells of Kukulkan flying towards the sun in order to speak with it but getting his tongue burnt in the process in a showcase of the sun's pride. That which gives us light can also take it.

The artists in this exhibition contend with this inherent power the sun enacts in all of us - from the burning repercussions we suffer from flying too close/in tandem with the erotic to the mysteries it illuminates all around us.

I Am The Sun opens Friday November 7, 2025 with a reception open to the public, 6pm - 9pm. The exhibition runs through November 29.
