AREA 22 Arts, Crafts, & Oddities Fair 

AREA 22 will serve as the premiere arts, crafts, and oddities fair in the Fox Valley. The festival will take place on Riverside Drive in downtown Elgin, showcasing the creations and collections of artists on the fray. Those who feel they do not typically fit into the parameters of pop culture, a place to call home. AREA 22 will feature artist exhibition and sale, live sculpture making, entertainment, food trucks, booze... and fun for the whole family.

Saturday, August 3rd, 2024 - Festival along Riverside Drive. Noon - 8 p.m., with "after ups" along the river front and at Vern's Tavern. 

  • June 1 - Deadline for application.

  • June 8 - Notification of jury results sent to artists. Booth fee charged upon acceptance; booth space will not be reserved without payment.

  • June 15 - Set-up information sent to participants. 

Entry Fee

  • $50 for the one-day event for a 10’ x 10’ space. 

  • $90 for the one-day event for a 20' x 10' space.

There is no jury fee. No commission will be charged for work sold. Payment charged upon acceptance. Your booth space will not be reserved without payment. There will be no refunds for cancellations. However, refunds would be made in the event of AREA 22 being cancelled.

Display Specifications

  • Artists will be supplied with tents, tables, chairs, and electricity if needed. 

  • Artists may bring their own 10' x 10' tents, tables, and chairs, if preferred. Please check the box in the app.

  • Artist must bring their own racks and display equipment.

  • Booths must have a professional look.

  • Artists must provide and display an identification sign listing their name.

  • Artists must be present and plan to exhibit rain or shine. No agents allowed.

  • Artists shall only exhibit work that is representative of images submitted with the application.

  • AREA 22 committee will screen booths during the weekend. If the work is not consistent with submitted images, or rules have not been followed, artists will be asked to leave. The committee’s judgment is final; no refunds will be given.


Artists are fully responsible for the care, safety, and security of their work and property. The City of Elgin and Side Street Studio Arts assumes no liability for loss or damage to artwork or other property from any cause.

Artists are required by the Illinois Department of Revenue to file a Special Event Tax Collection Report. More information and a link to the form will be available prior to the event. It should be completed and mailed to the address found on the payment coupon. If you have any questions, please call the phone number listed on the form.
