education through exploration

Community Moves is Side Street Studio Arts' education and outreach arm. Through visual and performing arts programming and education, Community Moves helps young artists develop creative problem-solving skills, find their voice through artistic expression, and build a foundation for well-rounded and responsible citizens. Focusing on performance, media, and the visual arts, Community Moves provides on-site in-school and after-school programming in partnership with Elgin area public schools, free of charge to the school's families. Since 2012, Community Moves has worked with up to 500 young artists per school year.

Community Moves also partners with local organizations to provide programming on location. These organizations have included the City of Elgin, the Downtown Neighborhood Association, Lords Park Zoo, The Boys and Girls Club of Elgin, and the Elgin Police Department.

For more information on how to bring Community Moves programming to your organization,
contact Nick at communitymoves@sidestreetstudioarts.org or 847-429-2276.
